I don’t shoot pornography……
I had someone tell me they love my work and said that I shoot classy pornography. Now let’s explore that backhanded compliment. If you look up the definition of pornography, it is the portrayal of images for sexual arousal. I shoot Intimate Boudoir. What is the definition of boudoir? It is the private bedroom, sitting room or salon of a woman. Generally women are dressed minimally such as their lingerie or in some state of disrobement since they are in their private bed chambers.
Why did I choose this genre to feature instead of family portraits, or landscapes for instance? Good question. I do in fact shoot several other genres but focus on boudoir because so many women have an interest but hesitate because they don’t understand it or have their own personal body shaming challenges to overcome. I am a female photographer so I provide a ‘safe’ place for them to relax, let their hair down, and be photographed with honor.

Once I explained the difference in the definition between pornography and boudoir to the person I was speaking too, they walked away with a clearer understanding of what I do.
